EURO 2024: Italy edge past Albania in thrilling encounter
Reigning champions Italy came from behind to beat plucky Albania 2-1 in their Euro 2024 opener
Nedim Bajrami gave Albania a shock lead after just one minute, but Alessandro Bastoni equalised for Italy just before half-time.
Andrea Belotti then scored the winner for Italy in the second half, as Roberto Mancini's side made a winning start to their Euro 2024 campaign.
The win means Italy are now top of Group A, with three points from their opening game. Albania are bottom of the group, with zero points from their first game.
Italy will now face Turkey in their second Group A game on 18 June, while Albania will face Switzerland.
In other Euro 2024 news, France and Germany played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in their opening Group F game.
Kylian Mbappe gave France the lead in the first half, but Leon Goretzka equalised for Germany in the second half.
The draw means France and Germany are both on one point after their opening games.
France will now face Portugal in their second Group F game on 19 June, while Germany will face Hungary.
